I'd like...

I'd really like a big old house near the water (coastal, beach, river...) with lots of rooms for my friends to stay over, a backyard/frontyard with trees and plants to have picnics in, and space for lots of animals!  Even better if it is run down.  It would be nice to apply my architectural qualifications at some point.

Paper Mache

E bought me the cutest magazine over the easter weekend - Paper Mache magazine "A very cute children's magazine". Even though I definitely do not have any children, I think it is one of the most delightful magazines I have ever seen!

beautiful sounds

One of my latest music crushes is James Blake.  His music is delighting and delicious.... and.... he's coming out for splendour! I'm hoping he does a side show in Sydney! Come with me!

what a web you weave!

In Pakistan millions of spiders seeking refuge from the floods escaped to the trees, transforming them into giant web cocoons.
Beauty overload!

B.H.

Bill Henson is one of my favourite photographers. I was over the moon to receive lux et nox from edward last year as a present for finishing my exams.
I find him and his work so very interesting.

productive parametrics

I am often skeptical about parametric design - asking why/ what a certain design decision is made and what, asside from looking good, does it give the proposal.  Mostly, I feel that that's where it ends, in looking good.  Occasinally I come across something that I think really works. This design proposal for a contemporary city bench seeks to understand the concept of street furniture as a holistic design problem. Instead of offering only one single static design, this scheme suggests multiple varying solutions that meet specific criteria.  By taking the cross section of the desired functions, the bench/seat/bin/planter blends the sections into a beautiful slug.

covers...

I have mostly mixed feelings about covers of songs, especially ones that I like.  It's almost like I get protective over the originals, as you do with your bestest of friends,  and only am happy to let the songs go on 'dates' with artists other than the original under special conditions.
Shooting a little below the line, I am allowing 'birdy', a 14 year old, to take Bon Iver's Skinny Love out to an afternoon ice-skating session date.  However, they must both be home for dinner, and no canoodling!
